Fond farewells

Well today is my last day at work following a year long secondment. What a most incredible and amazing adventure it has been. Such a fantastic group of people I'm going to miss them all for sure,,, but hopefully our paths will cross again... it's a small world afterall!!!

We have had the most fantastic weather for the trip along the David Thompson Highway and over the Icefield Parkway to Jasper. Two absolutely incredible nights at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge capped off a most wonderful holiday. Elk were often wandering around the hotel (the even had to be scared off!) Took the kids ice skating at west edmonton mall - along with many other attractions there including the roller coaster and indoor seal show. The kids picked the ice skating really well... too bloody well actually! A celebration dinner at Khazana's was a great night out before they all flew home to Australia the next day - in a blizzard!,,,, yep the weather turned it on just one more time.... a gorgeous huge snow storm on the morning they flew out.... stunning!

Trip into British Columbia

An experience not to be missed is the hot springs in sub zero temps - the temp is a constant 40 degrees ... its incredible to swim with the snow on the mountain in the background. We also took a short side trip to pretend we were staying at the famous Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.. aka the castle. From Banff we took the short walk up Johnston Canyon to check out the still very frozen waterfalls.... and then headed to Lake Louise and we able to walk out onto the lake as it was still very frozen. As you can see there was PLENTY of snow on the way to the golf game at The Bear course at the Okanagan Golf Club. At times around Rogers Pass the snow was well over the height of a semi...

skiing in Banffffffffff,,,, yaaayyyyy

The most fantastic days of snow made for the biggest dump of snow we've ever seen at Sunshine! The free-loaders have sure been blessed with a little bit of each type of weather Alberta has to offer... snow, blizzards, flurries and glorious sunshine! Dad came up for a day aswell and braved the minus 20 day to narrowly avoid frostbite and escaped with a good dose of sunburn! Thankfully no other injuries (well bad ones anyhow!) to report...On On

They're heeerrreeeee, update to end March

Well finally after eons of waiting the much tired family arrive on Thurs 29 March. They've had a nights stop over in Japan and are knackered! But no rest for the wicked,,,, so the next day we're off curling. The rocks were a little heavy for the kids,, but Chris and Dad picked it up soon enough. It's good timing to be curling right now as the World Championships begin in Edmonton tomorrow... there's even a team from Australia (all ex-pat Canadians living in Sydney!) We weren't able to get any tickets to the EdmontonOilers Ice Hockey, but have been lucky enough to watch a AJHL (Alberta Junior Hockey League) ice hockey play off game. the Fort Saskatchewan Traders and playing the Okotoks Oilers... what a fantastic night! They were their loudest supporters!

Saturday Dad get's his wish and gets snowed on! It's dumping down in Edmonton and we're about to drive through it to Banff for our 5 day trip.
