Update 2 May - Drumheller weekend

On the weekend we decided to take a tour to the SE and check out the Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum, the best dino museum we have ever seen. You can actually touch T-Rex’s hip bones. The museum is just outside of Drumheller which is well worth a visit. The town itself is in the ‘badlands’, these amazing structures of sedimentary layers that are eroding to expose an enormous array of fossils. (note for the Geo’s,, the clay layers are mostly bentonite)

We have also become overnight Ice Hockey fanatics and HUGE supporters of the Edmonton Oilers. It turns out the Oilers Ice Hockey is in the play offs – ¼ finals. Strange system where they must wine best of 7 to advance. So last night the Oilers won their 4th game (4 games to 2) against the Detroit Redwings. The whole town has gone nuts. But not as nuts as Calgary down the road, when they won their 3rd game on Saturday night there were numerous news reports of several incidents of public nudity. What they are doing in 2 degrees is beyond us!!

Speaking of cold weather, up until Saturday it was glorious weather – shorts and T-shirt weather. We had set up our camp site at Drumheller when a cold front came through and we were stuck in the tent with driving rain and 2 degrees.

But that’s not all, we awoke this morning to snow flurries! Jenny walked to work with her ski gear on! A maximum of +2 today but is warming up to +10 by Thursday apparently!
