Waterton National Park - Carthew Alderson Trail

Got up early on 6 August to head to Cameron Lakes the trail head for our walk. The highlight was stopping along the way to see a mother grizly and her 3 baby cubs on the side of the road. The cubs were playing with some road kill and soooo cute.
These photos are from the approach to Carthew Summit 2311m where the views are absolutely sensational. As are the views back down the ridgeline heading to Cathew Lakes which is a terrific spot for trout fishing. From here it's a bone jarring descent through prime grizzly berries down to Alderson Lake - you can see the trail here in the piccis. It's all dowhill from Carthew Summit with the last 7km into Waterton running a gauntlet through perfect grizzly habitat - and only a short distance from where we saw the mother on the side of the road in the morning! But all in all a pretty relaxed wander - although it's 22kms the views are unreal - it'll go down as one of the most spectacular walks we've done - so the scenery keeps your mind off the pain!
